MS Dhoni’s CSK teammate drops bombshell on ex-captain's IPL 2025 participation

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fast bowler Simarjeet Singh talked about the future of MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that he wants the keeper-batter to play in the 2025 edition of the league as he wants to play under him and learn from him.

The future remains uncertain for MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL). There's no clarity if the keeper-batter will be playing for Chennai Super Kings in another season or not. Him being in his 40s means there are very few chances that he might not play in the league as the keeper-batter.

But with Dhoni, no one knows what is about to come next. The keeper-batter during a few events recently suggested that he hasn't decided if he wants to play or not. But there were reports that he would be deciding once the BCCI releases retention rules.

After the 2023 edition of the tournament, which was won by Chennai Super Kings under the leadership of MS Dhoni, the keeper-batter stated that he will be playing another season for the fans, which will be a return gift from his side.

Ahead of the start of the IPL 2024, Dhoni dropped a massive hint about his last season. He decided to hand over the captaincy of the team to young Ruturaj Gaikwad. But he didn't get the fairytale ending as Chennai Super Kings couldn't qualify.

However, since then, there has been no clarity over the future of MS Dhoni. There have been reports that they might play in the IPL 2025 as an uncapped player. This is because BCCI is considering reintroducing the old rule, which allows players to be retained in the uncapped category.

Dhoni also was battling a knee issue during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He couldn't bat due to the injury and hence came to bat only in the last few overs, playing blazing cameos. He aggregated 161 runs in 14 matches and scored at a strike rate of 220.25.

Simarjeet Singh wants MS Dhoni to play in the IPL 2025

With no clarity over the future of Dhoni in the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Simarjeet Singh was asked if the keeper-batter would play in the 2025 edition of the league or not.

Replying to this, Simarjeet Singh mentioned that only Dhoni knows if he will be playing in the IPL 2025 or not. He, however, expressed his desire to see the keeper-batter play as he said that he wants to learn from the former Chennai Super Kings skipper. Speaking to SportsYaari, he explained:

"I want him to play because I want to play more under him and learn."

It remains to be seen if MS Dhoni will be playing in the IPL 2025. The BCCI is likely to announce the retention policy for the next season soon. The 2025 edition of the league will also see a mega auction taking place as well.
