The list of MS Dhoni's freaky dismissals from behind the stumps grew a little longer on Monday (April 14) when the legendary wicketkeeper pulled off an unbelievable run-out during the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings.
The Chennai Super Kings skipper ended Abdul Samad's stay at the crease with his fine work from behind the stumps. It was the second ball of the final over when Samad was facing Matheesha Pathirana.
Dhoni rolled back the years
The Sri Lankan pacer bowled a wide down the leg side, and the batters decided to steal a single. Standing at the non-striker's end, Rishabh Pant called for a quick single, and Samad duly obliged.
However, before Samad could enter the crease safely, MS Dhoni had done enough to send him back to the pavilion. Known for his street smarts, the former India captain quickly realised that throwing the ball at the non-striker's end would be the better option, and he went for it.
He gently tossed the ball with an underarm throw towards the bowler's end and ended up hitting the stumps. Samad was well short of his crease and had no option but to depart.

Robin Uthappa on MS Dhoni's run-out:
While MS Dhoni became the talk of the town after his stunning effort, his former India and IPL teammate Robin Uthappa called the run-out a fluke. Drawing from his own experience as a wicketkeeper, Uthappa said that Dhoni's effort was a fluke and not a well-calculated move.
"I am someone who has worn gloves, I know this was a 'tukka'," Uthappa said on Star Sports.
Meanwhile, the game against Lucknow Super Giants was a memorable one for MS Dhoni. He led CSK from the very front and guided the team to a much-needed win. CSK beat LSG by five wickets to end their five-match losing streak.
Dhoni became the oldest player in IPL to win a Man of the Match
Dhoni made useful contributions with both bat and wicketkeeping gloves in the match. He had three dismissals to his name in the game. In addition to the run-out, Dhoni also took a catch and effected a stumping.
During the game, he also became the first player in the history of the IPL to complete 200 fielding dismissals. He reached the milestone in the 14th over by stumping Ayush Badoni off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling. Later with the bat, Dhoni scored an unbeaten 26 off just 11 balls to help CSK chase down 167 runs with three balls to spare.
