Musheer Khan has started following in the footsteps of his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan who has become a very popular name in the Indian cricket fraternity. Sarfaraz is yet to play in international cricket but has already become a household name thanks to his stunning exploits with the bat in domestic cricket.
The right-handed batsman has been in sensational form for Mumbai and has scored heavily in recent seasons. In the ongoing season, he has smashed 556 runs in six matches at 92.66 including three tons.
In the previous two seasons of the Ranji Trophy, the right-handed batsman amassed 928 runs from nine innings at 154.66 and 982 runs from nine innings at 122.75. Unfortunately, Sarfaraz is yet to earn a call-up from the national team. He was recently called up to the India A team where he could not make much of an impact with the bat.
Musheer Khan follows in the footsteps of Sarfaraz Khan:
While there is still a long way to go for Musheer Khan, he has definitely made a good start. The 17-year old has turned heads with his recent performance with the bat.
He recently made his debut for Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season although he could not do very well. Those poor performances saw him lose his spot in the Mumbai squad before he responded with a stunning triple century.
After being dropped from the Ranji team, Musheer played for Mumbai in the CK Naidu Trophy and smashed the triple ton against Hyderabad. After Mumbai decided to bat first, Musheer Khan opened the innings and starred with the bat.
He played a whirlwind knock of 339 runs from just 367 balls. He scored 190 of those runs in boundaries, hitting 34 fours and 9 sixes during his monumental knock. Thanks to his knock, Mumbai declared their innings on 704 for 8.
Musheer Khan flops in Ranji Trophy:
Last month, Musheer Khan made his debut in Ranji Trophy against Saurashtra. In his first-ever first class game, he managed scores of 12 and 23 while going wicketless with the ball. In the following game against Assam, he scored 42 runs and picked up 2 wickets.
It was followed by yet another poor outing as he flopped with both bat and ball against Delhi. He scored 14 and 5 and could not pick up any wicket.
