Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Angelo Mathews Enter Top 20 Batters' List In Latest ICC Test Rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday released the latest ICC Men’s Test rankings following the conclusion of the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka Test series last week.

Bangladesh batters Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews entered the top 20 rankings on the back of their terrific performance in the two-match Test series.

Liton, who amassed 281 runs in three innings at an average of 93.67, jumped five spots to reach 12th ranking.

Veteran Bangladesh player Mushfiqur completed 5000 Test series during the series and scored 303 runs at an impressive average of 151.50. The 34-year-old climbed seven spots up to reach the 18th ranking.

Senior Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews was awarded player of the series for a phenomenal show with the bat, amassing 344 at a staggering average of 172 in three innings.

Mathews’ 145, including 12 fours and a couple of sixes, pushed Sri Lanka to a 141-run lead in the first innings of the second Test.

The Sri Lanka all-rounder moved five ranks up to secure 16th ranking in the ICC Men’s Test batting charts.

Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne retains the No.1 ranking followed by Steve Smith at 2, Kane Williamson at 3, and Joe Root at 4.

Asitha Fernando moved 44 places in the ICC Test bowling rankings

Sri Lanka pacer Kasun Rajitha, who amassed 11 wickets in a couple of Tests, picked the important wicket of Mushfiqur in Bangladesh’s second innings in Dhaka Test to pave the way for a batting collapse.

Rajitha jumped 17 spots to achieve 44th ranking in the latest Test bowling rankings after playing his 10th Test match.

Rajitha’s bowling partner Asitha Fernando gained massive strides in the Test bowling rankings, climibing 44 places to be ranked 52nd.

Fernando, who played the fifth Test match of his international career, picked career-best figures of 6/51 in the Dhaka Test as Bangladesh were bowled out for 169 in the second innings.

Australia Test skipper Pat Cummins is currently ranked No.1 in the Test bowling rankings with India duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah not far behind him.
