Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan said on Saturday (April 23) that Mustafizur Rahman should play Test cricket assuming he is needed by the side. Mustafizur had as of late demanded that he isn’t prepared to get back to Test cricket and that singling out formats was significant for him to drag out his vocation.

The left-arm pacer cleared his situation after Cricbuzz detailed that the BCB top-brass was set to examine with him his future in Test cricket. Mustafizur Rahman likewise said that he will sit with the BCB president to inform him regarding his position, despite the fact that he added that Nazmul Hassan knew about every one of the turns of events.

Mustafizur Rahman Did Not Say He Wants To Play Test: Nazmul Hassan

“Firstly let me explain, we have sent the players a format (contract paper) to tell us who wants to play which format. Those who have said they want to play three formats or say Test or say two formats, we have included them (in the national contract accordingly).

“Mustafizur did not write his name for Test and he did not say that he wants to play Test,” Nazmul Hassan told reporters at a city hotel on Saturday.

“Whether he says (yes) or not is not important because if we need him he will have to play (Tests). Certainly, we can call him for the Sri Lanka series if he is required.
Look there is Taskin, Shoriful and Ebadat and these three cricketers are there for Tests and when they are there if I keep Mustafizur Rahman there ultimately we don’t know whether the management or coaching staff will play him. But when he is required (for Test) definitely he will have to play. There is no issue with it,” he said.

Since making his Test debut in 2015, Mustafizur Rahman played in only 14 of the 39 Tests that Bangladesh played in this period. The left-arm pace bowler missed seven Tests after BCB decided not to add him to the Test contract list according to his demand.

Bangladesh missed his utilities in the one-off game against Zimbabwe while he was not accessible in the two-match Test series against Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa.

In the interim, Nazmul Hasan said that he will sit with the Test side to know whether they are having any mental issues.

“Earlier we felt that we struggle against pace bowlers but now we are seeing that we are being troubled by spinners. Today I wanted to sit with the Test team but they arrived late but we will certainly within a day or two to know what is happening,” said Nazmul. “if there is any psychological issue we will have to address it.”

Bangladesh is set to play a series of 2 Test matches against Sri Lanka starting next month. The first test match will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram from 15-19 May.
