"My and Rohit Sharma's careers weren't certain"- Virat Kohli before MI vs RCB

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are probably two of the biggest superstars to have emerged from Indian cricket in the last 15 years or so. Both have grown from young and talented batters to the legends of the game over the years.

Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will face off against each other during the highly anticipated clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Wankhede Stadium. It will be a high-octane clash that will see two of India's biggest mega-superstars up against each other.

Before the match, Kohli had some special words to say to Rohit. Kohli spoke about his cricket journey with Rohit over the years and their relationship while playing for the national team.

Virat Kohli breaks silence on his bond with Rohit Sharma

In a video uploaded on RCB's social media handle, Virat Kohli was asked about his relationship with Rohit Sharma over the years. Kohli admitted that both have developed a special bond while playing together for so long.

"I think it's a very natural thing to take place when you play with someone for so long and you share so much of your insight into the game initially, or learning from each other. You're kind of growing in your careers at the same time, you share all kinds of queries, questions. So, there is a lot of back-and-forth that happens," said Kohli.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been together in India's leadership group for a long time. The former RCB captain spoke about working closely in the group and ultimately arriving at the same solution.

"Also, the fact that we worked very closely in terms of leadership of the team. So, there were always ideas discussed, and more or less, we would end up being on the same page in terms of what the gut feel of that particular situation or that particular game demands. There is a trust factor that builds. You can rely on each other, do the job for the team," the 36-year-old mentioned.

Kohli "very very grateful" on playing alongside Rohit

Both of them started their respective careers almost at the same time and are now at the final stages of their remarkable careers. Kohli is grateful for playing alongside Rohit for such a long time consistently and recalled all the memories that they have created together.

"We've definitely enjoyed our time playing together for so long for India. We were able to make our careers back long because when we were young, it wasn't certain that we would end up playing for 15 years for India...the journey for so long and consistently," Kohli said.

"Very very grateful and very happy for all the memories, all the moments that we've shared and continue to do so," he concluded.

Legends in the IPL

Not only for their national team, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been talismanic players in the IPL as well. Both have been playing in the league since the first edition in 2008 and have grown to become the legends of their respective franchises.

While Rohit has led Mumbai Indians to a record five IPL titles, Kohli has scored loads of runs consistently for RCB to emerge as the league's highest run-getter. However, Kohli is yet to lift the trophy.

Mumbai Indians and RCB will face off against each other on April 7 at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium. MI has the edge over their opponents in terms of head-to-head record, but RCB has shown good form this season.
