Nahid was one of the shining stars during Bangladesh’s 2-1 ODI series win over New Zealand, where he picked up eight wickets in just three matches. His energy, fearless attitude, and ability to take wickets regularly earned him big recognition at the highest level.
Nahid Rana crowned ICC Player Of The Month
On Thursday, May 14, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced Nahid Rana as the winner of the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for April 2026 for his outstanding performance against New Zealand. This is the first ICC Player of the Month award for Rana.

Rana has also become the first Bangladeshi men’s cricketer to win the ICC Player of the Month award since Mehidy Hasan Miraz won this honor in April last year, which makes this achievement even more special for him and Bangladesh cricket.
Nahid Rana calls ICC Player of the Month a dream moment
Speaking on winning the ICC Player of the Month award, Rana said that this honor is very special for him, especially after performing well against a strong team like New Zealand. The Bangladesh pacer also said that doing well at home made the series even more memorable.
Nahid Rana was quoted as saying by the ICC: “It’s a great feeling to be named the ICC Player of the Month after performing well against a world-class side like New Zealand. To deliver on home soil made the series even more special, and it was a series that I will always cherish.”
The youngster also thanked his teammates for supporting and trusting him throughout the three-match ODI series against the Black Caps and hopes to continue helping Bangladesh win more matches in the future.
He added, “I’m grateful to my teammates for their constant support and belief in me throughout. I hope to keep contributing to more victories and memorable moments for my team.”
Nahid Rana’s fiery show against New Zealand
The ODI series against New Zealand started on a disappointing note for young Bangladesh pacer as he managed only one wicket in the first match.
But the fast bowler made a sensational comeback in the second ODI as he broke the backbone of New Zealand’s batting lineup with a fiery spell of 5/32.

Rana continued his brilliant form in the final ODI as well, taking two more wickets to help Bangladesh seal a memorable 2-1 series win over the Black Caps.
The young pacer finished the ODI series with eight wickets at an average of 16.75 and an economy of 4.46, which earned him ICC Player of the Month for April 2026.
Laura Wolvaardt wins third ICC Player of the Month award
In the women’s category, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt beat Sri Lanka batter Imesha Dulani and Brazil all-rounder Laura Cardoso to win the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award. It was Wolvaardt’s third ICC Player of the Month award in seven months following her outstanding performances against New Zealand and India.
