Najam Sethi raises his hands to become PCB chief again after Pakistan's T20 World Cup exit

Former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi has once again thrown his hat to take over in the same role after Pakistan's exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, got officially knocked out of the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies yesterday after the USA was awarded a point. The co-hosts were supposed to take to take Ireland in their final Group A match but the match could not get underway due to the constant rain first and then the wet outfield.
It will be fair to say that Pakistan's hopes of qualifying for the Super 8s well and truly got flushed out by nature itself. After all, they didn't play good enough cricket to remain in the competition and live up to their reputation. Men in Green's last match in the T20 World Cup 2024 will take place tomorrow against Ireland in the flood-hit area of Florida.
The chances of the match taking place at the Central Broward Regional Park are very minimal and that's just how it has been for Pakistan in this tournament. They went very close to winning matches but they couldn't once again handle the nerves of pressure situations.

Now, some sort of shake-up is expected to take place in the team and possibly in the hierarchy as well with reports of Mohsin Naqvi getting replaced. This is nothing new in Pakistan Cricket. Blame games, sackings, and internal rifts have been hindering the team's growth in the past few years. Regardless of how many times they start from scratch, PCB always ends up in the same place.
With a bit of axing taking place in the managerial posts, former chairman of the board and renowned Journalist Najam Sethi is ready to join PCB again. Sethi has been the Chairman of the Pakistan Board three times since 2017 and to return for a fourth time, he has already expressed his interest.
Najam Sethi hinted towards it by reposting Pakistani Journalist Akbar Ali's tweet wherein the latter asked the Pakistan Cricket Board to re-appoint Sethi. "Who will be the new @TheRealPCB Chairman???? Answer: One & Only @najamsethi Sb.." - Ali wrote on X. Najam Sethi took the same tweet and re-posted it with a praying emoji and no words.
What next for the Pakistani team?
Pakistan might or might not play their final game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland in the USA due to the weather conditions. However, there is still a lot to look forward to. The Men in Green's subsequent schedule after the World Cup is not out yet but 2024 is going to be a very important year, especially for the Champions Trophy next year on home soil.
Gary Kirsten will get plenty of chance this year to figure out the players that are going to form the core and he will also hunt for new players in the domestic circuit.
