A batting disaster for the Gujarat Titans (GT) against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Ahmedabad. Washington Sundar was playing an anchor role in the middle and was looking promising to put up a significant fight against the away team.

Mitchell Santner did not allow him to do that. Washington Sundar's innings came to a halt after scoring 26 runs from 17 balls. In his innings, the middle-order batter slammed the opposing bowlers for five 4s. It is not the first time that the Kiwi spinner Mitchell Santner has clinched the wicket of the Indian all-rounder. Naman Dhir took a terrific catch to complete the wicket-taking action.

The delivery was not good enough to take a well-set batter's wicket. Naman Dhir's timely jump near the boundary rope in the Deep forced Sundar to walk off the pitch.

Mumbai Indians bowler restricted GT to only 45 runs in the power play

From the beginning of the second innings, Gujarat Titans batters were under pressure against the Mumbai Indians bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah opened his account in IPL 2026 by taking the wicket of GT Sai Sudharshan. In the first ball of the first over of the second innings, Bumrah clinched the scalp.

In the power play, MI clinched three wickets, and GT managed to get only 45 runs. Soon after the departure of Sudharshan, the in-form batter of the Gujarat Titans, Jos Buttler, and captain Shubman Gill, also lost their wickets cheaply.

Impact player Ashwani Kumar and the debutant young gun Krish Bhagat also did a good job in their respective spells. Kumar dismissed Shubman Gill. MI captain Hardik Pandya took Jos Buttler’s wicket.

Naman Dhir had a good day in the office

Apart from taking a magnificent catch near the boundary line, Naman Dhir did well with his batting work as well. When the top order of the Mumbai Indians was struggling against the GT bowlers, Dhir was the first batter to hand up during the crucial junctures of the game, followed by an excellent century by Tilak Varma. Naman scored 45 runs as the number three batter of MI from 32 deliveries. His innings was laced with six 4s and one 6.

Batting first, the Mumbai Indians, the away team for the contest at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, registered 199 runs in 20 overs in exchange for 5 wickets. Most of the runs they claimed through the century of Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir's timely knock.
