In a recent development, the Namibia national cricket team is set to host an Indian domestic side, Assam, for a five-match one-day series in 2025. The series will provide valuable experience to young and upcoming players from both teams, and Riyan Parag has been named captain of the Assam squad.

Namibia are set to host the Assam Cricket Association for a five-match 50-over series at the FNB Cricket Ground in Windhoek. The Namibian side had earlier played a similar one-day series against Indian domestic teams Punjab and Karnataka.
Notably, the matches are scheduled to take place on June 21, 23, 25, 27, and 29, with all games starting at 9:30 AM local time. The series will provide valuable competitive exposure for both teams.

Riyan Parag to Lead Assam in Five-Match One-Day Series Against Namibia
The Assam squad, led by Riyan Parag, for the upcoming series includes Denish Das, Akash Sengupta, and Parvej Musaraf, who have delivered consistently in Indian domestic cricket.
Riyan Parag had a notable IPL 2025 season. He amassed 393 runs in 14 matches for Rajasthan Royals (RR) at an average of 32.75 and an impressive strike rate of 166.53. The all-rounder also stepped up as stand-in captain in a few matches when regular skipper Sanju Samson was unavailable.
Parag’s best performance came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he smashed 95 off just 45 balls, including a feat of five sixes in a single over.
Parag has an impressive record in domestic cricket across all formats. He has amassed 2,042 runs from 33 First-Class matches. The batter has scored 1,735 runs in 50 List A games. He has also picked up 53 wickets. In the T20 format, Parag has scored 3,115 runs and taken 48 wickets in 137 matches.
