Is the career of the Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah over? The question has started to arise, along with some doubts over his professional cricket career, as he was almost ruled out of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The formal announcement of his injury has arrived following a political controversy surrounding the cricketer. The newly added franchise in the PSL confirmed that the pacer will not be available for most parts of the tournament due to an Injury.
PSL franchise issued an official statement on Naseem Shah
Rawalpindi Pindiz stated in an official announcement that fast bowler Naseem Shah has been ruled out for the foreseeable future following his recent side injury during the HBL PSL encounter against Karachi Kings. The team’s medical staff are closely monitoring his recovery and are targeting a possible return towards the end of the tournament, subject to his rehabilitation progress and fitness clearance.
The official statement further mentioned that Pindiz stands firmly with Naseem during this challenging period and remains firmly committed to supporting him through his recovery. His presence in the squad is invaluable, and the entire franchise looks forward to seeing him back on the field stronger than ever.
Why are there controversies about his career?
Injuries are part of being a cricketer. But the cricket fans are thinking from a political aspect as well because of the timing of the official statement. The official statement by the franchise came days after Naseem Shah's controversial social media post criticizing a heavyweight political personality in Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board accused the pacer of breaching the code of conduct and took some other steps as well.
On March 30, the Pakistan Cricket Board released an official statement, confirming a fine on Naseem Shah for breaking the rule.
"Whilst noting the unconditional apology tendered, Naseem is found to have breached various clauses of his Central Contract and a fine of PKR 2 crores has been imposed. It was noted that Naseem Shah's social media adviser has already been terminated by Naseem and shall be blacklisted by the PCB from associating with any player falling under the PCB's jurisdiction," the official statement reads.
'Hacked' theory ruled out
The fine was because of a post on Shah's social media account, later deleted, which appeared to criticise Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The pacer, in his defence, claimed that his account was hacked. But the board officials simply denied the claim and will take further proceedings to take care of the matter. In an instant action, PCB first showed the under-contracted players, then allowed him to stand in his own defence.
Naseem Shah might have claimed that whatever was shared from his profile about the heavyweight politician of the country was shared because his account was hacked. But the board had no trust in the 'hacked' theory. Later, what officially happened was released through the official statement by the board.
