Legendary Australian offspinner Nathan Lyon reckons that it has been a long time since Australia clinched a Test series against India. Lyon called it an 'unfinished business' and will be aiming to turn things around this time.

Australia last won a Test series against India in 2014-15 at home. Since then, both teams have faced each other in a four-Test series, two home and two away. India have won all of these four series with an identical margin of 2-1.

It is not often that Australia loses a Test series at home. But the Indian team has shown tremendous determination and courage in their last two Test tours down under. The upcoming Test series between these two teams promises to be another blockbuster.

Nathan Lyon 'extremely hungry' to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Nathan Lyon has been a part of all four series that Australia have lost to India. In all four series, Australia have come closer to beating India on every occasion but failed to do so. As a result, Nathan Lyon is hungry to turn things around this time and win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

"It's been ten years of unfinished business, it's been a long time. I know we're extremely hungry to turn things around especially here at home," Lyon was quoted as saying by West.co.au.

"Don't get me wrong, India is an absolute superstar side and extremely challenging but I'm extremely hungry to turn things around and make sure we get that trophy back," the 36-year-old added.

Nathan Lyon showed confidence in his team's abilities and felt that Australia is on the path of becoming a great cricket team in the next few years.

"Feel like we are a different team to a couple of years ago, we are on a journey of becoming a great Australian cricket team. We're definitely not there but we are along that journey and have been playing some decent cricket," Nathan Lyon stated.

India's last tour to Australia

India's last tour to Australia in 2020-21 was particularly historic as a young and inexperienced Indian team defied one of the strongest Australian teams in Australia. India kept losing its players during the series but never lost hope.

Despite the players getting injured, the youngsters held their ground and kept fighting till the end. As a result, India broke Australia's 32-year-old dominance at Gabba and clinched the series 2-1.

Schedule for Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

The Test series between Australia and India will begin on November 22 in Perth. The second Test of the series will be a day-night Test in Adelaide which will begin on December 6. The third Test will be played at Gabba, Brisbane, the same ground on which India clinched the series last time they toured here.

The fourth Test of the series will be a Boxing Day Test and will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. The fifth Test will be the new-year Test match and will be played at Sydney Cricket Ground.

As of now, players of both teams are fit and if it remains so, it promises to be an enthralling Test series between two of the best Test-playing nations at the moment. While Australia will be aiming to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India will be looking for a hat-trick of Test series wins in Australia.
