Last year, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) pulled out of the T20 tri-series involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka after a deadly incident in Urgun District. Three cricketers and five other civilians died in a Pakistani airstrike in October 2025. Pakistan stated that the airstrikes targeted militant hideouts.

Naveen-ul-Haq sparked a major reaction on social media after posting a single-word message, “HYPOCRISY.......”, on Facebook on February 5.
As per reports, Naveen-ul-Haq, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman had earlier agreed to stay away from the Pakistan Super League this season. The three teammates made the decision together for personal and professional reasons and wanted to stand united.
Naveen followed the agreement strictly. He ignored PSL offers and chose to sign a County cricket contract in England. He planned his schedule around the promise and expected his teammates would do the same. However, Gurbaz and Mujeeb later reversed their decision.
