Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja shared his excitement about playing in the World Cup for the first time in front of the home crowd. Ravindra Jadeja hoped that the Rohit Sharma-led team would reach the finals and secure victory in the summit clash tournament.
The Men in Blue began their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign with a comfortable six-wicket victory at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, October 8. The home team successfully chased down the target of 200 runs with more than 50 balls to spare.
It Is Very Special World Cup – Ravindra Jadeja
In a recent episode of The ICC Review podcast alongside Dinesh Karthik and host Brian Murgatroyd, Ravindra Jadeja highlighted the home team’s balanced strengths in all departments.
“It is very special because this is my first World Cup in India. The fans are very excited because our team is balanced in all areas. There is nothing that we are weak in any particular area,” Jadeja told ICC.
Jadeja was part of the Indian team in the last two editions of the ODI World Cup in 2015 and 2019, respectively. The left-arm spinner played only two matches in the 2019 World Cup. Later, he became an integral part of the team in the 50-over format.

The left-handed batter highlighted the tremendous energy, confidence, and unwavering faith of Indian fans in the ongoing World Cup 2023.
“The energy of Indian fans, their confidence, and their unwavering faith in us are incredibly high. Whenever we play in India, for any series, they turn out in such large numbers that the entire stadium remains packed. I find it very exciting to play in the World Cup in front of the Indian crowd. Hopefully, we’ll perform well, reach the finals, and win the World Cup,” Jadeja added.
The Rohit Sharma-led team is in fifth place in the 10-team table during the showpiece event. The hosts have two points in their tally, with an NRR of +0.883. They will face Afghanistan in their next match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 11.
