Bangladesh batter Mahmudullah opened up about his position in the batting order in the ICC World Cup 2023, stating that he didn’t wish to discuss it further. Mahmudullah stated that he had a lot to say about his role, but felt it wasn’t the right platform for a discussion.

Mahmudullah was sent to bat as low as No. 8 in earlier games of the ongoing World Cup. The experienced right-hander was promoted to No. 6 in the recent match against South Africa. He grabbed the opportunity and scored his fourth hundred in the 50-over format.

Don’t Want To Talk About Batting Order – Mahmudullah

Speaking after Bangladesh’s 149-run loss to the Proteas, Mahmudullah declined to discuss his batting order, stating that it wasn’t the appropriate platform for such a conversation.

“I don’t want to talk about batting order. I want to talk a lot of things, but this is not the platform (to do that). I would have felt good had it (his century) had helped the team win the game. I’m ok with the batting order. I have seen a lot of this in my life. There’s a lot I want to say but this is not the right time,” he said.

I Dedicate The Ton To My Family – Mahmudullah

The 37-year-old dedicated his century to his family and those who had supported him during the past three months, emphasizing that his biggest motivation was to play for Bangladesh and achieve victory.

“I dedicate the ton to my family, and to those who supported me over the last three months. I want to thank those who supported me and those who didn’t. It’s tricky… at the end (of the day), you want to play for Bangladesh and win, that’s the biggest inspiration.”

Before the World Cup, skipper Shakib Al Hasan and opener Tamim Iqbal had a public dispute. Following this dispute with the board and the skipper, Tamim Iqbal was excluded from the squad. Mahmudullah replaced Iqbal in the squad for the mega tournament.

You Will See Different Bangladesh – Mahmudullah

When asked about the Shakib-Tamim feud before the World Cup, the experienced player refrained from commenting, stating that it’s in the past.

“I can’t make comments on those things. Whatever happened, happened. We can try to win games for Bangladesh, we are trying, but it’s not happening. If we win one game, you will see a different Bangladesh.”
