Former head coach Ryan Campbell responded to doubters of the Netherlands cricket team. Ryan Campbell expressed his satisfaction with the Netherlands team’s performance against South Africa in the most recent match in ICC World Cup 2023.

The Netherlands team registered a historic 38-run victory over the Temba Bavuma-led side at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on October 17. The Netherlands became the only non-Test-playing nation to defeat the South African team in both the ODI and T20 World Cups.

I Hope You Enjoyed Today – Ryan Campbell

After the Dutch team‘s victory, Ryan Campbell took to the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to address those who had underestimated smaller cricketing nations.

“For any cricket fans out there who still don’t want “Little Guys” at the @cricketworldcup, I hope you enjoyed today,” Campbell wrote.

In the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022, the Dutch triumphed over the Proteas with a 13-run victory at the Adelaide Oval last year. The Protea team failed to advance to the next stage of the tournament as they suffered a loss against the Dutch team.

Netherlands Opened Their Account In ICC World Cup 2023

The Netherlands secured their place in the World Cup through an impressive performance in the qualifiers in Zimbabwe. They stunned the cricketing world by defeating the West Indies in a Super Over during the qualifiers, earning their spot in the main event.

The Scott Edwards-led team suffered losses against Pakistan and New Zealand in their first two games at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. However, they bounced back to secure their first victory in the tournament against one of the title contenders.

They got off to a poor start against the Proteas, losing seven wickets for 140 runs. However, they managed to put up a total of 245/8 in 43 overs in a rain-affected match. Scott Edwards scored an unbeaten 78 runs off 69 deliveries to help the team reach a good total.

The Dutch team bowled out the South African team for just 207 runs to open their account. They currently occupy ninth place in the 10-team points table in the OCC tournament. They will take on the Sri Lankan team in their next match in Lucknow on Saturday, October 21.
