Biratnagar Super Kings, on Thursday (December 29), thrashed Pokhara Avengers by 8 wickets to register their second consecutive win in the ongoing Nepal T20 League.

Incidentally, Super Kings’ first win had also come against Avengers. As far as Avengers are concerned, they have now lost 5 games in a row.  With no win in 5 games, the Avengers are languishing at the bottom of the points table while Super Kings have moved to the third spot.

Biratnagar Super Kings’ chase:

Rohit Paudel starred with the bat as Biratnagar Super Kings chased down 136 with ease to register another win in the ongoing Nepal T20 League.

Super Kings were off to a disastrous start as their opener Arjun Saud was out for a duck on the very first ball of the innings. But from thereon, the Super Kings stayed on top of the chase throughout their innings.

Gauranshu Sharma and Paudel steadied the ship and set the foundation for the win by sharing 78 runs for the second wicket. Zahir Khan ended the stand when he castled Sharma for 33.

Paudel and Talat Hussain shared an unbeaten stand of 60 runs to power their team to an easy and convincing win. The Super Kings crossed the finishing line with 8 balls remaining. Paudel remained unbeaten on 71 while Talat scored 28.

Pokhara Avengers innings:

Earlier in the game, Pokhara Avengers scored 135 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs after being asked to bat first. For the fifth match in a row, the Avengers failed to cross the 140-run mark and scored between 130 and 140.

Openers Sumit Maharjan and Aasif Sheikh added 36 runs for the first wicket before the former and Upul Tharanga added 23 runs for the second wicket. And while Avengers’ top-order ensured to keep their wickets safe, they just could not accelerate well with the bat.

When Maharjan departed in the 10th over, the run rate was just over 6 runs an over. His departure also opened the floodgates as Avengers lost three more wickets in quick succession to find themselves reeling at 83 for 5 from 59 for 1.

Ameer Hamza then played a fine cameo of 37 runs with the help of 1 four and 3 sixes to guide the Avengers to a competitive total. For the Super Kings, Andre McCarthy was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 22.
