The Bangladesh National Cricket Team is set for its inaugural tour to Nepal for the T20I series. The International Cricket Council (ICC), on September 17, confirmed Bangladesh's tour of Nepal through a release on its official website. It will be the first time the Tigers travel to the hills to face the Nepal National Cricket Team.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the development in its official statement. The series is scheduled to start on March 26, 2027, with the third and final match on March 30. The second T20I will be on March 28.
First-ever bilateral series between Nepal and Bangladesh
The series will also mark the first bilateral series between these two Asian teams. These two cricket teams have faced each other on only two occasions, and both of the matches were for the ICC World Cups. They previously met on two occasions at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2014 and 2024.
BCB, in its statement, mentioned that the bilateral series will work as a bridge between the two nations to strengthen their bond. The series will carry the message of friendship and solidarity at a time of great loss in Nepal because of the recent flash flood, which took many lives.
BCB stands in support of Nepal
According to media reports, the death toll from the floods in Nepal had climbed to 1,399 by Tuesday as authorities recovered more bodies from eight affected districts.
"The three matches will provide an opportunity for Bangladesh and Nepal to come together through cricket and convey a message of friendship and solidarity at a time of great loss,” Bangladesh confirmed in a statement.
"Talks over the series began during a meeting between State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque and Nepal's Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari. Bhandari visited the BCB on Wednesday and met BCB President Tamim Iqbal, where they discussed the proposed tour as well as broader cricketing cooperation between the two countries,” the BCB said in a press release on Wednesday, as it was quoted in a Daily Star report.

Nepal caught attention during the previous T20 World Cup
The cricket team of Nepal caught the eyes of global cricket fans on multiple occasions over the past couple of years. During the previous ICC T20 World Cup, they went very close to defeating the mighty England national cricket team. England named their full-fledged playing XI, but Harry Brook and his boys were on the verge of losing the match. Nepal cricket team missed out on causing a massive upset by a few inches.
In a recent development, the Rhinos defeated the United Arab Emirates to confirm a place in the upcoming edition of the men's Asia Cup. They are confirmed to play in the tournament as the sixth team, alongside India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
