Netherlands squad for series against Scotland and UAE announced

The Netherlands National Cricket Team have announced the squad for the upcoming series against the Scotland National Cricket Team and the UAE National Cricket Team. Both series will be part of the Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2023-27 cycle.

The Dutch team has named a strong 15-member squad for the series. The team will be captained by Scott Edwards, who has some experienced names as well. The likes of Paul van Meekeren, Bas de Leede, Max O’Dowd, and Roelof van der Merwe have been named in the team.

The Dutch team will be playing its first game against the UAE on 6th May. They will be featuring four ODIs in the first half of May, two each against both teams. The series will be important for both teams in the context of the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, set to be hosted in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.

The Scott Edwards-led side would be keen to win all four games in the series as it will help them to consolidate their position on the League 2 table. The top two teams and four teams from the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 cycle will earn a place in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 Qualifiers.

The Dutch team was part of the ICC World Cup 2023, which took place in India. They played an impressive brand of cricket and would be keen to qualify for the next edition as well.

All of the matches of the series between the Dutch team Scotland National Cricket Team, and the UAE National Cricket Team will be played at two venues – VRA in Amstelveen and Kampong in Utrecht. All three teams would be eager to give their best and win the series.

The Dutch team was last seen in action during the tri-series against the Canada National Cricket Team and the Namibia National Cricket Team. The Scott Edwards-led side had a decent outing in the series as they won two games, while two matches were abandoned due to rain.
