The new dates for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2022, which is the third edition of the competition, have been announced and the tournament is scheduled to commence on December 6 in Hambantota.
The LPL 2022, which consists 5 teams – Kandy Falcons, Jaffna Kings, Colombo Stars, Dambulla Giants, and Galle Gladiators – was originally scheduled to take place from July 31 to August 21, but it was postponed due to the political and economic crisis in the country.
The group stage of the tournament, which will consist of 20 games, will be played in Hambantota before it moves to Kandy and then Colombo.
The R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will be hosting crucial games like the final, Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2 and Eliminator. The Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be played on December 21, Qualifier 2 will be played on December 22 and the summit clash will be held on December 23.

Anil Mohan, the official promoter of LPL, said that they want to provide high-energy T20 cricket to fans and he was hopeful of the tournament being a success once again. Also, star players like Evin Lewis, Carlos Brathwaite, Janneman Malan, Dwaine Pretorius, D’Arcy Short, and Shoaib Malik will take part in the Lanka Premier League 2022.

I am sure that the third edition will be a success like the last two seasons,” said Anil Mohan, Founder and CEO of IPG, the official promoter of LPL.
Notably, legendary cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya and Wasim Akram have been roped in as brand ambassadors for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League.
