Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the new head coach for the women's team. Former middle-order batter and the chief selector of the governing body Mohammad Wasim has been handed over the responsibility to guide the team ahead of the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.
Mohammad Wasim, who was the chief selector of Pakistan's Men Cricket Team during the tenure of Ramiz Raja as Chairman, has been roped in by the Pakistan Cricket Board to bolster the team for the two upcoming major events in the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.
Mohammad Wasim as per the reports in PTI will be supported by Junaid Khan and Abdur Rehman as assistant and the bowling coach respectively. The duo has been an incredible servant for the Pakistan National Cricket Team and would be keen to use their experience and help the women's team win both events.
Pakistan Cricket Board was unhappy with how the women's team has been performing over the past few months. They suffered a disappointing series loss against England and hence the change in the coaching staff has been made for Asia the Cup and the T20 World Cup.
Mohammad Wasim's first assignment as the coach of the women's team will be the Asia Cup 2024. The tournament will begin on July 19 in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. Pakistan has been placed in the same group as India and the two nations are expected to go neck to neck with each other.
Asia Cup 2024 will see a total of eight teams participating. The teams include India, Pakistan, host Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Malaysia, and Thailand, all competing for the championship. The tournament will be an ideal preparation for all the teams ahead of the T20 World Cup. It will be a great opportunity for the Pakistan Women's Team to silence all their critics and stage a comeback by winning the tournament.
Pakistan Cricket Board hosting a four-day conditioning camp in Karachi for the women's team
Ahead of the Asia Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is hosting a four-day conditioning camp in Karachi for the women's team. This is because the governing body wants the team to be prepared for the physical and mental challenges ahead.
The final squad for the Asia Cup is likely to be announced after the conclusion of the camp. The signing of new management and the introduction of a conditioning camp ahead of the Asia Cup are steps taken by the PCB to enhance the team's performance on an international level.
The experienced individuals in Mohammad Wasim, Junaid Khan, and Abdur Rehman would be keen to take the team to new heights and help the side win the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup 2024. It remains to be seen how the new coaching staff will fare in their first assignment.
