Abhishek Sharma has clocked a 931 ICC T20I batting rating and surpassed the long-standing record of Dawid Malan, alongside going past his Indian teammates Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.
The Indian left-handed opening batter amassed 300+ runs for India in this latest edition of the Asia Cup. His spectacular half-century against Sri Lanka already marked his rise in modern-day international cricket.
Abhishek Sharma sets a new high with record-breaking ratings in ICC Rankings
Abhishek, the No. 1-ranked ICC T20I batter, is only extending his distance from the Englishman Phil Salt, seated in the second position on the rankings. Sharma scored three consecutive half-centuries in the Asia Cup Super-4 stage games.
He now has 931 points and has surpassed the previous highest rating of 919 set by English left-handed batter Dawid Malan. He also went past the previous highs of Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909) for India.

Tilak Varma firmly holds onto no. 3 ranking with a strong Asia Cup performance
Abhishek Sharma was awarded the Player of the Tournament for his captivating performance in the Asia Cup. The batter was unstoppable; from leading India with comprehensive starts first up in the group stage, he went on to affirm his hold with three match-winning 70s in the Super-4 games.
However, one player who made several silent yet crucial inclusions to the Indian batting order was none other than the other rising sensation, Tilak Varma. Varma has amassed 213 runs in the Asia Cup for India, and his knocks against Pakistan in the group stage and Super-4, against Sri Lanka in the Super-4 and lastly, his player of the match performance in the finals showed his caliber at the utmost level.
He remains in third position in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings and is next to Abhishek Sharma and Phil Salt in the list. While Kuldeep Yadav rose 9 spots to the 12th position.
Saim Ayub replaces Hardik Pandya as the new no. 1 in ICC T20I Rankings
In another major turn of events, Indian all-rounder star Hardik Pandya has been replaced from the top spot on the ICC Men's T20I all-rounder rankings. This was long held by Ravindra Jadeja and then Hardik Pandya, too.
However, Pakistan's Saim Ayub, who had a disappointing run in the Asia Cup with the bat, performed comprehensively with the ball and hence, surpassed many to rise to the top spot in the ICC Rankings. Ayub is now 8 points ahead of Pandya in the list.
