On September 17, hours before the toss could take place, the Black Caps pulled out of the entire white-ball series and left the country immediately citing security concerns.

New Zealand’s decision left the players and fans disappointed as they were expecting cricket action in Pakistan for a long time at that juncture. Just after New Zealand, England also decided to withdraw from the two-match T20I series in October.

According to a Cricket Pakistan report, the compensation amount has not been disclosed but as per sources, PCB will now make huge profits from New Zealand’s next year’s tour to Pakistan, where 10 white-ball games are expected to be played.

PCB is also considering playing a tri-series with New Zealand and Bangladesh in the first week of October Down Under just ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

“The NZC has invited the PCB for a tri-series in New Zealand in the lead up to the T20 World Cup,” a PCB spokesperson told Dawn.

“We are presently reviewing the invite and will revert to the NZC following a consultation process,” he added.

PCB will confirm the tour to New Zealand after deciding the dates with England as they are scheduled to travel to Pakistan for seven T20Is planned in October.

New Zealand will tour twice to Pakistan in the 2022-23 season. First, they will play two Tests and three ODIs in the December 2022-January 2023 period and then will return for five ODIs and as many T20Is in April 2023.
