New Zealand will take on the West Indies in the second of the three-match ODI series. This article provides details about New Zealand's Playing 11 vs West Indies for the second match of the series.
New Zealand Playing XI vs West Indies- 2nd ODI, West Indies Tour of New Zealand 2025:
Openers: Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra
New Zealand would like to earn back-to-back wins in the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies in order to claim it in the second match itself.
The home side would look to replicate the similar performance they delivered with the bat in the first ODI.
Having said that, New Zealand will have to make a forced change in the playing XI for the upcoming match, with centurion of the last game, Daryl Mitchell, being ruled out of this particular match.
Experienced batter Heney Nicholas has been added to the squad as Mitchell's replacement, but is not expected to find a place in New Zealand's batting lineup for the next match.
Telenred batter Mark Chapman, in all likelihood, will replace Mitchell with the rest of the team remaining the same.
The BlackCaps will open the innings with Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra, both of whom will be entrusted to get the team off to a good start.
If we talk about the individual form of both batters, Conway has been in decent form, having missed his half-century by one run in the series opener, and would look to get that in this particular match.
Rachin, on the other hand, has been short of runs off late and would aim to get a big score under his belt in the second outing.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Will Young, Mark Chapman, Tom Latham (wk), Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (c), Zakary Foulkes, Kyle Jamieson
As far as the middle order is concerned, it has been at the forefront of the action in the recent past and has bailed the team out of tricky situations across formats.
The likes of Tom Latham, captain Mitchell Santner, and Michel Bracewell have put their hand up when required.
The team management would hope for them to do so once again, considering the fact that in-form batter Daryl Mitchell won't be a part of the team for the match in question.
To add to that, the form of the top order, which has been quite inconsistent, adds more responsibility on the shoulders of the team's middle-order batters to come good.
The hosts would wish for the batting lineup to click to ensure that they cross the 300-run mark while batting first.
Bowlers: Matt Henry, Jacob Duffy
Amidst the concerns about the form of the batting lineup, the team's bowling has done its job on most occasions in the last few years in ODI cricket, and the captain would want it to keep up the good work.
New Zealand is expected to go into the match with the same bowling combination that took the field in the series opener, which comprised four fast bowlers and two spinners.
The fast bowling department of the BlackCaps will be handled by Matt Henry, Jacob Duffy, Zakary Foulkes, and Kyle Jamieson.
As far as the spin bowling contingent goes, it will be led by captain Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell.
