New Zealand will face the West Indies in the third of the three-match Test series. This article provides details about New Zealand's Playing 11 vs West Indies for the third match of the series.
New Zealand Playing XI vs West Indies- 3rd Test, West Indies Tour of New Zealand 2025:
Openers: Tom Latham (c), Devon Conway
New Zealand would like to replicate the same performance that the home team delivered in the second Test when they take on the West Indies at the Bay Oval in the final game of the series.
New Zealand will have to make a force change as fast bowler Blair Tickner, who featured in the previous match, picked up an injury in the middle of the game and was ruled out of it.
The rest of the playing XI is expected to remain the same as it was in the second Test, with captain Tom Latham opening the innings with Devon Conway.
The BlackCaps, although have certain issues that it needs to address in the bowling department, the batting lineup of the team looks in good form given the conditions that had encounterd so far in the series.
The captain would hope for the batters to keep up the good work in the upcoming match as well, with him leading from the front.
Latham will be partnered by Devon Conway, who also got runs under his belt in the previous match, and would wish to build on it in the final game.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Hay (wk), Glenn Phillips
As far as the team's middle order is concerned, it comprises experienced names like former captain Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell, who will be assisted by Rachin Ravindra and Mitchell Hay, who scored a half-century on debut.
The team also has the likes of Glenn Phillips, who has the capability of taking the game away from the position while batting at number six or seven, and is more than handy with the ball.
Along with Phillips, Zak Foulkes can also be relied upon to contribute with the bat while batting in the lower middle order.
Having said that, New Zealand would hope for the top five batters to score the majority of the team's runs in the upcoming match.
Bowlers: Zak Foulkes, Jacob Duffy, Michael Rae, Ajaz Patel
As mentioned earlier in the piece, New Zealand will have to make a force change in the bowling attack with Blair Tickner getting injured in the previous match, which might bring Ajaz Patel into the reckoning.
The reason is that the Tom Latham-led side didn't have a frontline spinner in the playing XI in the last match, and it won't be a bad decision to have one to keep things tight from one end in the next match.
Meaning that Zak Foulkes and Jacb Duffy will have to do the heavy lifting in the fast bowling department with assistance from Michael Rae, who will be playing only his second Test, and fast bowling all-rounder Daryl Mitchell.
