New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Friday, June 27, announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I Tri-Series with Zimbabwe and South Africa. Bevon Jacobs is all set to make his debut for New Zealand, having been named in the T20I squad for the Zimbabwe tour.
Auckland Aces’ rising star Bevon Jacobs is the only uncapped player in a strong squad led by experienced all-rounder Mitchell Santner. Jacobs was first called up in December, but he didn’t get a game against Sri Lanka. Recently, he made his IPL debut with the Mumbai Indians.
Fast bowler Adam Milne returned to the Kiwi side after nearly eight months. The 32-year-old pacer was last seen in action in November 2023, but his performance for Texas Super Kings in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, where he scalped 9 wickets for 96 runs in four matches, earned him a recall.

In New Zealand’s pace attack, Adam Milne will be joined by the world No. 1 T20I bowler Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry, who returned to the squad after recovering from injury, Will O’Rourke, and Zak Foulkes. However, Ben Sears is ruled out of the T20I Tri-Series due to a side injury.
The NZC also confirmed that the pacer Lockie Ferguson has been rested from the Zimbabwe tour to manage his workload, while Kyle Jamieson is awaiting the birth of his child, so he was unavailable for the selection.
Additionally, Kane Williamson has also made himself unavailable for the tour. Meanwhile, the Black Caps’ top order looks explosive with Finn Allen, who recently smashed 151 off 51 balls, hitting a world-record 19 sixes in one T20 innings for the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket 2025, and Tim Seifert featuring.
Devon Conway dropped from T20I team
Seifert will handle wicketkeeping duties, with Allen as the backup, as Devon Conway and Mitch Hay were dropped from the T20I team. Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, and Michael Bracewell will provide their batting and all-round excellence.
Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner will take care of the Black Caps’ spin department in the upcoming T20I Tri-Series. The upcoming tour of Zimbabwe will be the first assignment for Rob Walter as the new head coach of the New Zealand cricket team.
Walter will be supported by Luke Ronchi as the batting coach and Jacob Oram as the bowling coach. James Foster will also rejoin the Kiwi team as the fourth coach.

Rob Walter excited for his first assignment as New Zealand head coach
Rob Walter stated, “I think we’ve got a really strong squad for this tour, and I’m looking forward to getting the team together and getting into the work.”
The new head coach added, “We’ve got some good experience in the side, and it’s nice to be able to welcome back a few of the players who missed the March series against Pakistan because of the IPL. It should be a great T20 Tri Series with South Africa, who are a very strong side, and Zimbabwe, who play well at home in their own conditions.”
The upcoming tour will mark the Black Caps’ first white-ball visit to Zimbabwe since 2015, with the action kicking off on July 16 at Harare Sports Club. The final of the T20I Tri-Series will be held on July 26, with the top two teams from the round-robin stage making it through.
