The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the schedule for the white-ball series, including three ODI matches and five T20 Internationals against New Zealand at home in January 2026. Vadodara is set to host a men’s international match for the first time in over 15 years.
New Zealand are set to return to India for the first time since their dominant 3-0 Test series win late last year. The upcoming white-ball tour will also mark the first meeting between the two sides since India defeated the Black Caps in the Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai in March this year.
India and New Zealand to Face Off in Bilateral Series Ahead of T20 World Cup 2026
The five-match T20I series between India and New Zealand will serve as vital preparation ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Both teams are expected to experiment with line-ups and strategies to finalize their best combinations for the global tournament.
India will enter the ICC tournament as the reigning T20 World Cup champions, having clinched their second title in 2024. The hosts will be keen to assess the squad before the World Cup.
For New Zealand, the series will provide a valuable opportunity to acclimate to Indian conditions. With the World Cup scheduled for February-March, the visiting side will aim to gather crucial experience in subcontinental conditions.
BCCI Confirms Schedule for New Zealand's India Tour in Early 2026
"The Apex Council confirmed the venues for India’s upcoming white-ball home series against New Zealand, scheduled to be held in early 2026," the BCCI states.
According to the BCCI, India will host New Zealand for an eight-match white-ball series in January 2026. The series will start with three One-Day Internationals followed by five T20 Internationals.
The ODI leg begins in Vadodara on January 11, with Rajkot and Indore set to host the second and third ODIs on January 14 and 18, respectively.
As per the schedule, the T20I series will commence in Nagpur on January 21. Raipur will host the second T20I on January 23, followed by matches in Guwahati (January 25), Visakhapatnam (January 28), and Thiruvananthapuram (January 31).
New Zealand's most recent white-ball tour of India took place in early 2023. They played three ODIs and three T20Is during the tour. Notably, the Black Caps managed to win just one match. They secured a 21-run victory in the opening T20I in Ranchi.
