In what has been the latest development as per the reports in CricketNext News 18, it is learned that Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey are all set to leave the Delhi State team. The two players have approached the association and have sought NOC to shift their bases to some other team for the next season.
The reports suggested that both the players have been looking out for opportunities after the last season with Delhi as they are concerned with the way their career was moving and had formally made their intention to move on clear.
Nitish Rana was disappointed with the way Delhi team management dropped him midway and since then he has been exploring the options. Although he played the Ranji Trophy game against Mumbai, after that, he made himself unavailable for selection for the season’s last fixture against Hyderabad.
“Nitish Rana was exploring options after the last season ended. He wasn’t happy with the way he was dropped midway through last season and was on the lookout. He returned for the game against Mumbai and then made himself unavailable for the game against Hyderabad,” a source told CricketNext News 18
Nitish Rana was dropped from the team after scoring 14 & 40 vs Maharashtra, and a duck against Assam. He didn’t make the cut into the XI for the games against Tamil Nadu, Saurashtra, and Andhra.
Dhruv Shorey unhappy with limited white-ball opportunities – Reports
Dhruv Shorey, on the other hand, has been the mainstay of Delhi in the Ranji Trophy but he is eager to play white-ball cricket, in which he’s not getting desired opportunities.
“With regards to Dhruv, he was a red-ball asset for Delhi but wasn’t happy with opportunities in shorter formats. He still wants to play white ball cricket,” said the source.
Dhruv Shorey last played white-ball cricket for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and he scored decently well for the team. He returned with scores of 41, 9, 43, 1, and 10 runs but hasn’t been given a consistent run.
Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey were named in the Delhi team for the Buchi Babu tournament but they asked for a NOC a day before the team was set to leave for the multi-day tournament.
