The IPL 2026 is in full swing, having reached the halfway stage. At this point in the season, there is a clear indicator of which teams are going strongly and which ones are not. In between all the intensity, teams and players take a step back once in a while and unwind.

In one such instance, Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar wished his father - the legendary Sachin Tendulkar - a happy birthday in a video message posted by the franchise.

Known as the "God of Cricket", Sachin Tendulkar turned 53 on Friday, April 24th. He has had to celebrate the special day without his son around, as Arjun seems fully committed to the needs of his franchise.

Arjun refuses the plate of cake

In the video, Arjun wished his father a happy birthday and hoped that the two could meet soon. Arjun was also seen putting down a plate that contained pieces of cheesecake.

In the video, which Lucknow Super Giants posted on their social media handles, Arjun said that he is not going to indulge in the delicacy as he doesn't consume sugar that often.

Arjun is yet to step out on the field for the currently ninth-placed LSG in IPL 2026.

Arjun Tendulkar's IPL career

Having spent years as a net bowler, Arjun Tendulkar officially joined the Mumbai Indians - also his father's franchise - as a player in 2021. That same year, he was ruled out of the tournament with an injury.

Arjun was with the Mumbai Indians all the way from 2021, but made his IPL debut only in 2023. Across five seasons (2021-2025), he only played five matches (4 in 2023, 1 in 2024) for the five-time champions.

In five matches, he picked up only 3 wickets and made 13 runs in the one innings he got to bat in. He also conceded a 31-run over against the Punjab Kings.

In 2022, Arjun Tendulkar switched his domestic team from Mumbai to Goa in search of better opportunities and made both his first-class and List A debuts for them in that format. He emulated his father by scoring a century on his first-class debut.

Ahead of the 2026 IPL season, Arjun was traded from the Mumbai Indians to the Lucknow Super Giants in an all-cash deal. Arjun Tendulkar was signed for his base price of INR 30 lakh, but hasn't played any matches for his new team.

Lucknow Super Giants upcoming match

With just 2 wins in 7 matches, Lucknow Super Giants are placed ninth on the points table of IPL 2026. Currently, they are on a four-match losing streak and have been unable to find the right balance for their side.

Their next match will be a home game in Lucknow. They will be facing tenth-placed KKR on April 26. With LSG's playoffs hopes bleak and some of their bigger names struggling, Arjun Tendulkar could get an opportunity in this game.
