The Indian Premier League (IPL) versus Pakistan Super League (PSL) debate is one that never seems to end. Fans and the cricket fraternity often compare the two leagues, discussing everything from the quality of cricket to the level of competition. Now, Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza has shared his thoughts on the IPL vs PSL debate.
Raza feels the Indian Premier League has moved far ahead of the rest of the cricket world in terms of batting standards and the way T20 cricket is being played in the modern era. He stressed that the IPL things could soon become normal in international cricket as well.

The IPL is known for huge totals, fearless batting, and non-stop entertainment. Scores above 200 are now common in the tournament, where batters attack from the start, and the biggest reason behind this batting revolution is the Impact Player rule.

The rule has given teams extra batting depth, allowing top-order players to play aggressively without worrying too much about losing wickets. This has completely changed the approach of many IPL teams and made life extremely difficult for bowlers.
However, Sikandar Raza believes that the rest of the cricket world will eventually move in the same direction. The Zimbabwe all-rounder feels that totals around 220 could soon be seen as competitive rather than extraordinary in the T20I cricket.

He also credited India's success in the T20 World Cups to the IPL, saying the high level of competition in the tournament helps players prepare for major ICC events long before they arrive.
Raza said on the Hasna Mana Hai show, “There's no comparison to the IPL. Right now, it may feel disappointing to us to see scores of 250 being made regularly in the IPL, but I think they are ahead of their time. International cricket will eventually reach that stage as well.
Because of the Impact Player rule, 250 may still be difficult, but 220 could become a par score. They are ahead of other countries because they prepare for World Cups all year round, and that’s why they keep winning them. That’s the honest truth.”
Difference between IPL and PSL
Meanwhile, Raza acknowledged that the PSL offers a very different kind of challenge. While the IPL is often dominated by batters, the Pakistan Super League is widely regarded as a tournament where bowlers still play impactful roles in the matches.

Most PSL teams feature quality pace attacks, and the conditions often provide bounce, movement, and reverse swing, making run-scoring much tougher in the tournament. And that is why many PSL matches are decided by bowling performances rather than batting fireworks.
Even targets around 160 can become difficult to chase because bowlers remain in the contest throughout the game. The two leagues serve different purposes. The IPL is leading the batting revolution and influencing how T20 cricket is played around the world, while the PSL continues to be a competition where bowlers are tested and rewarded for their talent.
