A new book on Indian Cricket named ‘Mission Domination: An Unfinished Quest’ had revealed the inspiring story of Mohammed Siraj and the hurdles he had to come through. The book was co-authored by Boria Majumdar and senior PTI sports journalist Kushan Sarkar. Siraj has been one of the talking points in Indian cricket at the moment due to his sudden rise in stature in international stages.

He had a phenomenal outing in the second Test at Lord’s against England and was one of the key contributors to the Indian win with a match haul of 8 wickets. He picked four wickets in both innings of the Test and finished off the innings by taking the last wicket of James Anderson. Siraj played a key role at the start of the year in the historic Gabba Test win where he picked up a five-wicket haul.

Mohammed Siraj Isolated Alone In Room Despite Father’s Death

Mohammad Siraj had to go through the mandatory period of 14-day quarantine in Australia despite the emotional period he was in with his father’s death. He had no choice as the Covid rules were set so strict in Australia and even his teammates were guarded to not help him out through the tough situation. It couldn’t have been worse for a player than that and Siraj had to undergo it.

“Siraj had lost his father during the statutory period of 14 days hard quarantine in Australia in November. What this meant was that none of his teammates could even go to his room to give him a shoulder to cry on. At the time there were cops outside every room just in case the Indians tried to violate protocol. They were being guarded as prisoners who could export Covid to Australia!” The New Book Revealed

Siraj Fulfills His Father’s Dream

Mohammed Siraj had never given up despite breaking down on occasions and that was a character that earned him success. Siraj’s only reprieve could be the way he performed for India and his father wanted him to do that too. He grabbed the opportunity in Melbourne and produced a stunning spell in the second innings on Debut.

“Siraj broke down on multiple occasions, which is only natural but never gave up. He was steadfast and resolute. He wanted to fulfil his father’s wish of doing his best for India and when the opportunity came his way at the MCG on the huge occasion of the Boxing Day Test, he just did not want to let it go.” The New Book added
