Not Abdul Razzaq or Imad Wasim! Waqar Younis names the top 3 all-rounders in Pakistan's T20 history

Former Pakistan all-rounder Waqar Younis recently picked the top three all-rounders in the history of Pakistan in the shorter format of the game. Waqar Younis excluded players like Mohammad Hafeez, Abdul Razzaq, Shadab Khan, and Imad Wasim from his list of the top three all-rounders in Pakistan's T20 history.

Waqar Younis made comments during the final match between the India Champions and Pakistan Champions at the World Championship of Legends 2024. The Pakistan Champions failed to secure victory in the summit clash as the India Champions outclassed them at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Saturday, July 13.

That Includes All T20s, Not Just Internationals - Waqar Younis

During the commentary, Waqar Younis stated that Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, and Sohail Tanvir are the top three all-rounders in Pakistan's T20 history. Waqar mentioned that his list covers all T20 matches, not just international matches.

"Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, and Sohail Tanvir are the top 3 all-rounders in Pakistan's T20 history. That includes all T20s, not just internationals," Waqar Younis said.

Shahid Afridi scored 4,399 runs in 329 T20 matches at an average of 18.25 and an impressive strike rate of 153.91, with the help of one century and 10 half-centuries. The former Pakistan skipper also excelled with the ball, taking 347 wickets at an average of 22.78 and an economy rate of 6.78, with the best figures of 5/7.

Shoaib Malik also has extensive experience in T20s, scoring more than 11,000 runs in 405 matches. Malik smashed 16 centuries and 71 half-centuries in his career. He also took 309 wickets with the ball in his career. Sohail Tanvir scored more than 2,500 runs and bagged 205 wickets in the shorter format of the game.

The Indian bowlers delivered an impressive performance to restrict Pakistan to 156 runs in the WCL 2024 final. Pakistan's top three batters got good starts but failed to capitalize and score big. They were at 79/4 within 12 overs, but Shoaib Malik scored 41 runs off 36 balls to help Pakistan reach a competitive total.

Sohail Tanvir played a quickfire knock of 19 runs off nine balls, including two fours and one six. In the Indian bowling attack, Anureet Singh took three wickets, while Vinay Kumar, Negi, and Irfan Pathan each secured one wicket. In response, opener Ambati Rayudu provided a solid start with 50 runs off 30 balls.

Gurkeerat Singh Mann scored 34 runs off 33 balls in the middle order. Pakistan took wickets at regular intervals, and the match went down to the last over. Yusuf Pathan (30 off 16) and Yuvraj Singh (15 off 22) helped India chase down the target in the final over. Irfan Pathan finished the match with a four.
