Aman Mokhade's dream run across formats
His dream run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 is not the first tournament in a domestic cricket tournament where Aman Mokhade has stood as a pillar for Vidarbha. His form has been unmatched across all formats in the past year.
The 24-year-old cricketer made his debut back in the 2022-23 season, but not until this season had he gained the spotlight. He scored 577 runs in 7 Ranji Trophy innings with three hundreds and a fifty.
Then, going into the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Vidarbha, he was the highest scorer in the 2025-26 season after having a stunning Vijay Hazare Trophy season in 2024-25. Currently in the latest edition of the VHT, he is the leading run-scorer with 781 runs at an average of 97.62 and has scored 5 centuries and a half-century.
Aman Mokhade surpasses Virat Kohli's century record in the Vijay Hazare Trophy
The right-handed batter Mokhade began the tournament on a high note, as he scored 110 runs against Bengal and followed it up with another century and a half-century against Hyderabad and J&K. He then made a stunning comeback with several centuries against Baroda and Uttar Pradesh.
His century in the semi-final against Karnataka marked his fifth century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which makes him the joint highest century maker in the history of the tournament. Previously, Narayan Jagadeesan and Karun Nair had the record of scoring 5 centuries in a Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Yet he has an opportunity to surpass both of them to be the highest century-getter in a VHT season, if he gets another rocking ton in the final. He has already surpassed Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, who had 4 centuries in a season.
