The IPL is on the brink of one of its biggest surprises ever. Rajasthan Royals (RR) are planning to trade their star wicketkeeper-batter and captain, Sanju Samson, to Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In exchange, CSK could send their key all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, to RR.
This potential trade has already created huge buzz among fans, as all three players have been key to their respective franchises. While neither team has officially confirmed the deal, reports suggest that discussions have taken place with all three players.

RR and CSK must formally inform the IPL Governing Council that they want to trade these three players. If the trade moves forward, it will require written consent from these players before the IPL Governing Council approves the final agreement.
Sanju Samson’s 11-year journey with Rajasthan Royals
Samson and Jadeja are among the most experienced and celebrated players in the IPL. Samson has spent 11 seasons with RR, becoming a pillar of the franchise. He made his debut in 2013 and became the youngest player to be retained for the 2014 season at just 19.
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter was later named RR captain in 2021. Under his guidance, and with team director Kumar Sangakkara’s support, RR reached the IPL final in 2022. Across 67 matches as captain, Sanju has an even record of 33 wins and 33 losses.
Samson is also RR’s top run-scorer with 4,027 runs. He has 25 half-centuries and 149 catches to his name in the tournament. In IPL 2024, the right-handed batter scored 531 runs, but then he had an ordinary season in 2025, mainly due to injury. After the IPL 2025 season, he decided to leave RR.
Ravindra Jadeja’s CSK legacy
On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja has been a key player for CSK since 2012. He has been part of three of the franchise’s five title wins and is the team’s highest wicket-taker with 143 wickets. Jadeja also shares the record for most Player-of-the-Match awards for CSK with MS Dhoni at 16.
Even the Indian all-rounder briefly captained CSK in 2022. Jadeja’s IPL journey started with RR, where he won his first title in 2008 at just 19.
After a short suspension and a stint with Kochi Tuskers, he joined CSK in 2012 and quickly became part of their core group alongside Dhoni. Jadeja’s experience and all-around skills make him a valuable asset for any team.
Speaking about Sam Curran, the England all-rounder has had a mixed IPL journey. He began his IPL career with Punjab Kings in 2019, moved to CSK in 2020 and 2021, returned to PBKS, and then rejoined CSK in 2025. However, Curran could score only 114 runs and take a single wicket in five matches.
