Team India star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has picked up many memorable dismissals for the national cricket team and the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Jasprit Bumrah recently picked the dismissal of the former Indian skipper as his favorite wicket in his illustrious cricketing career.

Jasprit Bumrah has been a valuable asset for the Indian cricket team across formats over the past few years. Bumrah helped the Indian team to memorable victories with his bowling. He lifted the ICC trophy after beating the South African team in the final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on June 29.

The 30-year-old showcased his bowling prowess throughout the World Cup in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA). He was rewarded with "Player of the Match" for his outstanding bowling efforts. The pacer secured 15 wickets in eight innings at an average of 8.27 and an economy rate of 4.18.

Still Convincing Myself That I Belong Here - Jasprit Bumrah

Speaking on the Indian Express Adda show, Jasprit Bumrah picked Virat Kohli's wicket in his debut match for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League as his favorite. Bumrah said that Kohli's wicket was significant for him as he was still trying to prove that he belonged at that level.

"I think I will take Virat Kohli. I was a 19-year-old kid, still convincing myself that I belong here," Bumrah said.

Jasprit Bumrah made his IPL against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Bengaluru. The right-arm pacer trapped Virat Kohli, who scored 24 runs, with a sharp in-swinger. It was his first wicket in the Indian Premier League. He ended the match with 3 wickets for 32 runs, but the MI team lost by two runs.

Bowlers Are The Smart People - Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah opened up about fast bowlers not leading the teams in international cricket. Bumrah pointed out that bowlers are smart people, as they constantly plot dismissals in challenging conditions. He acknowledged that the decision to make a bowler captain was beyond his control.

"That is something that I don't decide. I cannot go to the team and say now you have to make me captain. I don't have that much power and it is above my pay grade. But I feel the bowlers are the smart people because they have to get the batsmen out and we are always fighting the odds because the grounds are shorter, the bats are better, I don't remember any article or any technology coming that okay, we are helping the bowlers to swing the ball a lot more."

The Gujarat cricketer was last seen in action during the T20 World Cup 2024 final match. The India pace bowling spearhead was rested from the recent Zimbabwe tour. He was also not included in the white ball squad against Sri Lanka, which is set to begin on Saturday, July 27.
