Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Farokh Engineer is all set to be honoured with a stand named after him at the Old Trafford Stadium. Alongside him, another great of the game, former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd, will also be honoured at Manchester.
This move is a heartfelt gesture from the English County Club Lancashire, for whom the duo played for a long time, reported PTI.
Both of these were greats and had made a significant impact for the Lancashire County Cricket Club during the early 1970s. Farokh Engineer played in the club for almost a decade, from 1968 to 1976, while Lloyd, who made his debut in the same year, continued to play till 1986.
Farokh Engineer and Clive Lloyd to be honoured by Lancashire
Lancashire Cricket Club was one of England's most famous county clubs after the two legends came into the team. Not having won a single major tournament in the last 15 years, Lancashire won their first major title in the Gillette Cup after the arrival of Farokh Engineer in the side.
They won it four times between 1970 and 1975; it was a knockout one-day tournament that was played till 1980, but later was known as the Friends Provident Cup. Clive Lloyd arrived as Lancashire's overseas signing in the early 1970s and transformed the fate of the county team.
Notably, Farokh Engineer, who played for most of his career in India's Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, does not have a stand named after him. Representing Lancashire, he played in 175 games and went on to score 5942 runs and took 429 catches while also being part of 35 more dismissals.
The Stand might be inaugurated before the Start of the next Test at Old Trafford
According to some reports, the stand naming ceremony for the Indian legend Farokh Engineer might be held on the opening day of the Manchester Test. India will play the fourth Test at Old Trafford starting from the 23rd of July, and in their presence, the stand might be inaugurated before the game begins.
“It is a fitting honour for both legends of the club," a probable source told the PTI.

Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out; Changes awaited for India's fourth Test
India will be playing the fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester; after trailing 1-2 at Lord's, this will be a decisive match from India's point of view. It turns out to be a do-or-die for the Indians, as losing this match will mark the end of any chances of survival in the series.
Amid all, there has been some good news for India, that Rishabh Pant is fit enough to keep wickets for the upcoming Test. However, all-rounder seamer Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out; hence, India will have to make changes to the team.
This will be an interesting call for Gautam Gambhir and Shubman Gill to make, as they do have the option for both an additional pacer and a spinner. Some batting changes might also be made, as expected until now, for the upcoming Test.
