In a massive power shift at the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the former Australia National Cricket Team player Tom Moody is all set to be appointed as the global Director of Cricket of the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchises.
This massive development will see Tom Moody become the most powerful man and take charge of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Durban Super Giants (DSG), and the Manchester Originals, which is highly likely to be renamed Manchester Super Giants
Tom Moody set to join Lucknow Super Giants
The IPL-winning head coach, Tom Moody, has been doing broadcasting duties in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a while, but now he is once again back in the coaching staff.
He brings a plethora of coaching experience to the table and recently guided the Oval Invincibles to their third consecutive triumph in The Hundred. Not just the 100-ball competition, he was also involved in the ILT20 and helped Desert Vipers finish as runners-up in 2023 and 2025.
Looking at the success of Moody, Oval Invincibles were keen to retain Tom Moody, but he decided to take up the offer made by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
"It is understood that both Surrey and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the owners of the Mumbai Indians, who bought a 49% stake in the Invincibles earlier this year, were keen to retain Moody. However, it is understood Moody opted to take the LSG offer as it gave him a larger role," the report in ESPNCricinfo read.
How long will Tom Moody stay at the LSG?
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are regarded as one of the unstable franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as they have made plenty of chopping and changing to the coaching staff and the team.
Recently, the legendary Zaheer Khan, who was appointed as the mentor of the franchise last season, parted ways with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a shocking turn of events. Zaheer Khan will effectively be replaced by Moody in the setup.
Meanwhile, as per ESPNCricinfo, the tenure for which Tom Moody and Lucknow Super Giants have signed the contract has not been revealed as of yet and will be made public with an official announcement.
Kane Williamson joins the Lucknow Super Giants
Earlier, Kane Williamson, who has been representing the Durban Super Giants in SA20, was appointed as the strategic advisor of the LSG ahead of the IPL 2026.
Along with Kane Williamson, the franchise welcomed Carl Crowe as spin-bowling coach. They also confirmed that Justin Langer would continue as the head coach and Bharat Arun would continue his role as fast-bowling coach.
LSG is among the newest franchises in the Indian Premier League, and after making it to the playoffs in IPL 2022 and 2023, their performance went downhill.
