Cricketer-turned-commentator Dinesh Karthik has termed Jasprit Bumrah as the Kohinoor Diamond of Team India. Dinesh Karthik's words come after Jasprit Bumrah showcased a stunning form during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to help India clinch the trophy and win every game.

Dinesh Karthik was one of the commentators during the T20 World Cup 2024 where India outplayed South Africa in the final to win the second World T20 title.

While Virat Kohli was the star of the India vs South Africa final and won the Player of the Match award, Jasprit Bumrah clinched the Player of the Tournament (Most Valuable Player) award.  Notably, Bumrah held a stunning form since the start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

His crucial spells and economy helped Team India crush every team in the tournament and emerge as the only unbeaten team till the end.  Bumrah grabbed a total of 15 wickets across 8 games at an average of just 8.27.

He was the third-highest wicket-taker in the T20 WC after Fazalhaq Farooqi and Arshdeep Singh (17 scalps). The right-arm pacer held an economy of just 4.18, the best than any other Indian bowler.

Dinesh Karthik calls Jasprit Bumrah 'Kohinoor Diamond of India'

During a chat on Cricbuzz, former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik heaped praises on Jasprit Bumrah after his other magical show in an ICC tournament. Karthik said Bumrah is more valuable than Kohinoor diamond for India.

“When I was on air, I said he is more valuable than a Kohinoor diamond. Genuinely, he is the greatest all-format bowler at the moment in world cricket. Under pressure to come and keep performing time and time again, not many can do that,” he said.

Karthik, who retired from all forms of cricket after IPL 2024, also added that Bumrah can win the match at any stage and this makes him a special player.

“He’s a captain’s dream—someone who wins at any stage, any play of the match—that’s what makes him so special. Brilliant, fantabulous—that’s the word for him,” the 38-year-old further added.

Hardik Pandya also grabbed 3 wickets in the match across his 3 overs, leaking 20 runs in total. India crushed South Africa by 6 runs in a nail-biting match to become T20I Champions for the second time after 2007. The Rohit Sharma & Co. also won the ICC title after a gap of 11 years.
