The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is currently eyeing multiple Indian stars for redemption in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026).

The five-time IPL champions are all set to make a major overhaul at the upcoming IPL 2026 auction in December.

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar is reportedly on the Chennai Super Kings’ radar for the upcoming season.

They want a proper all-rounder, especially an off-spinner, and Sundar fits perfectly into their need. However, there is no official word on the move, as he is currently part of the Gujarat Titans.

CSK targets Mohamed Ali and Sonu Yadav for IPL 2026

Amidst the buzz over Sundar, the CSK is reportedly keeping a close watch on two young Indian all-rounders ahead of the next IPL season. Mohamed Ali, who can contribute with both the bat and off-spin, has impressed many with his consistent performances in domestic cricket.

Ali’s composure and ability to adapt to different match situations have lured CSK. Alongside him, pace-bowling all-rounder Sonu Yadav, who has earlier been part of RCB, is also on CSK’s radar.

Yadav’s recent performances, including a hat-trick in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), have caught the attention of several franchises, including the Chennai side.

If things go as expected, both Mohamed Ali and Sonu Yadav could soon find themselves in the yellow jersey in the IPL 2026, as CSK continues to back young and talented all-rounders for the future.

Numbers show Mohamed Ali and Sonu Yadav's potential

Notably, the young all-rounder Sonu has so far played six first-class matches, 11 List-A games, and six T20 games, scoring 123, 82, and 17 runs, respectively.

The pacer has 20 FC wickets, 10 List-A, and 9 T20 wickets to his name. However, the right-handed batter is yet to make his IPL debut.

On the other hand, Tamil Nadu’s Mohamed Ali has so far played only 18 games across the formats, and the off-spinner has taken only 11 wickets. He is also a reliable batter, scoring 327 runs in 9 FC games, 204 runs in 6 List-A games, and 46 runs in 3 T20s so far.

CSK plans major overhaul after nightmare IPL 2025 season

Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings are preparing for a major transformation ahead of IPL 2026 after a nightmare season in 2025, where they finished at the bottom of the points table.

The poor run left fans heartbroken, and CSK team management is determined to bounce back stronger than ever.

Given that, big changes are expected, but the team will not start from scratch. It is being said that almost 16 players are likely to be retained ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, forming a balanced core of experienced leaders and young talent.

The list is likely to include trusted veterans like MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, consistent performers such as Shivam Dube and Matheesa Pathirana, and promising youngsters like Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, and Anshul Kamboj.

The franchise’s main focus for the upcoming auction will be to strengthen their top order with an explosive overseas batter and add more Indian pacers to enhance their bowling depth.
