Devon Conway, on Friday (October 13), took a fine diving catch to send back Najmul Hossain Shanto cheaply in the ongoing clash between New Zealand and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Black Caps locked horns against the Bangla Tigers in the 11th match of the ongoing 2023 World Cup.
New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first. And Bangladesh have started their innings in a disastrous manner. On the very first ball of the match, Trent Boult dismissed Litton Das for a golden duck.
It was followed by a 40-run stand between Tanzid Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz before both of them were sent back by Lockie Ferguson in quick succession.
Ferguson first dismissed Hasan for 16 to break the promising stand. 16 runs later, he sent back Mehidy too for 30 runs to leave Bangladesh reeling 56 for 3 in the 12th over. And even before Bangladesh could recover from those setbacks, a brilliant catch from Devon Conway piled more pressure on them.
Devon Conway???s brilliant catch:
Just two balls after Mehidy???s departure, Shanto joined him in the pavilion too. On the first ball of the 13th over, he failed to judge the bounce of a delivery from Glenn Phillips and paid the price for it.
The southpaw wanted to work the ball on the on side but was surprised by the bounce and ended up top-edging it towards mid-wicket where Devon Conway made a timely dive in front of him to complete a brilliant catch.

Talking of the match, Bangladesh were on 77 for 4 in the 16th over at the time of writing this report. Captain Shakib Al Hasan was batting on 2 while former captain Mushfiqur Rahim was unbeaten on 18. Bangladesh will be hoping that two of their most experienced batters bail them out of trouble and propel them to a challenging total.
