Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan believes that the Pakistan team has the potential to reach the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Michael Vaughan highlighted the Babar Azam-led team’s ability to thrive when they sense an opportunity.

The Men in Green registered a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, October 31. This win ended their four-match losing streak, improving the Pakistan team’s chances to advance to the playoff stages of the marquee tournament.

They Are Very Very Good – Michael Vaughan

In a conversation with Cricbuzz, Michael Vaughan jokingly suggested that Pakistan should create chaos and sack everyone just before the World Cup, which could lead them to victory in every match.

“We have all watched Pakistan when you give them a little sniff, just a little sniff, they are very very good at going for something,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.

“What they need to do is the day before the World Cup, sack everyone. Just cause a load of chaos, for the sake of it, and they will win every game,” Vaughan added.

The alleged private WhatsApp chat of Babar Azam was leaked in the media, sparking controversy. Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq resigned from his position. These recent developments have prompted calls for a comprehensive overhaul of Pakistan’s cricket.

Pakistan Secure Seven-Wicket Victory Over Bangladesh

In a recent World Cup 2023 match, Pakistan restricted the opposition to 204 runs in 45.1 overs. Mahmudullah top-scored with 56 runs, supported by Liton Das (45) and Captain Shakib Al Hasan (43). The remaining batters failed to make significant contributions.

Pacers Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr. picked up three wickets each. Haris Rauf scalped two wickets, while Iftikhar Ahmed and Usama Mir settled for one apiece. Fakhar Zaman (81) helped the team chase down the target with 17.3 overs to spare.

The Babar Azam-led team will take on New Zealand in their next match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, November 4. They must win their remaining two games and wait for the results of the other matches to qualify for the semi-finals.
