Quinton de Kock continued his dream run in the tournament as he played another sensational knock. South Africa were invited to bat first. They lost Temba Bavuma (24) early but after that keeper-batter along with Rassie van der Dussen batted magnificently well and put the team into dominating position.
Quinton de Kock looked in complete control right from the ball 1 as he timed the ball to perfection and hit the ball in gaps. The opening batter made a mockery of the Kiwi bowlers and made sure that he made up for the loss of his captain early on.
Quinton de Kock, who is the leading run-getter in the ICC World Cup 2023, smashed another magnificent ton. He brought up his fourth century and equaled Kumar Sangakkara’s tally of hitting four tons in a single edition of the World Cup.
Apart from this Quinton de Kock also equalled Herschelle Gibbs to smash third most centuries for South Africa in ODIs. He now has 21 tons to his name. The batter ended with a knock of 114 runs off 116 balls. He also smashed 10 fours and 3 sixes in his innings.
Quinton de Kock’s knock helped South Africa go past 200 runs with ease. The keeper-batter notably will retire from the ODIs after the World Cup. With the way he’s batting, many fans have urged him to take his decision back and continue playing for South Africa.
