The Oman national cricket team secured a two-wicket victory in match No. 53 of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1), Oman, on Sunday, February 16. Oman achieved a rare milestone in the bowling department during the recently concluded match.

Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus opted to bat after winning the toss. However, the decision backfired as they lost four wickets inside the powerplay. Jay Odedra dismissed openers JP Kotze (1) and Zane Green (6), while Shakeel Ahmed took the next two wickets, leaving Namibia at 17/4 in eight overs.

Erasmus and Loftie-Eaton added 35 runs off 69 balls for the fifth wicket. Aamir Kaleem removed Erasmus, who scored 15 runs off 43 balls. They lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 96 runs in 33.1 overs. Loftie-Eaton was the top scorer for Namibia with 30 off 54 balls, including 3 fours.

Following the Namibia innings, Oman scripted history by becoming the first international team to take all 10 wickets with spin in consecutive ODIs.

Aamir Kaleem Named "Player of the Match" for His All-Round Performance

In response, Oman openers Aamir Kaleem and Jatinder Singh added 42 runs for the opening wicket in 9.3 overs. Gerhard Erasmus broke the stand by dismissing Kaleem, who scored 21 runs off 33 balls with three boundaries. Jatinder (14 runs off 25 balls) was dismissed by Bernard Scholtz in the subsequent over.

They lost quick wickets and collapsed to 87/8 in 21 overs. Erasmus picked up five wickets for 34 runs, while Bernard Scholtz bagged two wickets. However, the Oman cricket team completed the run chase to secure the victory. Aamir Kaleem was named "Player of the Match" for his all-round performance.

Oman Move to Second Place in Ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Standings

Oman have been impressive, winning eight of 15 matches in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. They secured second place in the standings with 18 points and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.120. Meanwhile, Namibia has managed six wins in 16 games. They are placed sixth in the table with 12 points.
