Former England pacer Darren Gough has blasted Brendon McCullum after the England coach claimed that he made his team overprepare for the pink-ball Test in Brisbane. Due to excess training, England players were not fresh enough against the Aussies.

Australia have once again proved why they are the invincible side on their soil. England have never had a great record in the Australian islands, and they continue their disappointing run. The England legends dared to call the Australian side the weakest in the history of the Ashes, but the Aussies, led by stand-in skipper Steve Smith, have thrashed them twice in the series.

Currently, the Australian team top the WTC points table with 5 wins in 5 games and have a PCT of 100, while on the other hand, England have slipped to the 7th position and are only above Bangladesh and the West Indies after 7 games in this WTC cycle.

Brendon McCullum said England were 'overprepared' for the 2nd Ashes Test

England lost the second Test match with a devastating show from the batters as the Australian bowlers kept teasing the edge of the Englishmen. They kept playing drives and kept edging the ball; the entire batting unit almost repeated their blunders to suffer a collapse throughout the game, especially in the second innings.

"We will have a beer tonight. I think leading into this Test match, I actually felt like we overprepared, to be honest. We had five intense training days, and sometimes when you are in the heat of the battle, the most important thing is to feel a little bit fresh and make sure your top two inches are completely sound," said McCullum after England's defeat at the Gabba.

"I think the boys just need a few days off, and we probably need to change up a few of the training methods," said McCullum on the preparations ahead of the third Test.

England great slams English head coach

Former English seamer Darren Gough slammed England's head coach Brendon McCullum on his remark that he had prepared the players excessively, which ultimately led to their defeat in the second Ashes match as well.

Gough took to X and slammed the former Kiwi player as he rubbished his statement after the visitors were left 2-0 down in the ongoing series.

"Overprepared my a*se," wrote Darren Gough in response.

"Australia is not for weak men," Ben Stokes said on the team's mentality ahead of the Adelaide Test

England skipper Ben Stokes has questioned the mentality of his own side and has claimed the players should step up for the team under conditions of severe pressure. The two matches have already been lost, and the third Test begins on the 17th of December in Adelaide.

"Do we need to start thinking about what mentality we are taking into those pressure moments? When we are on top, we are great, and when behind in the game, we are also very good, but when that moment is neck and neck, we are not coming out on top on enough occasions," said Ben Stokes in the BBC Test match special.

"There is a saying that we have said a lot here—Australia is not for weak men. A dressing room that I am captain of is not a place for weak men either," he added further.
