Former Pakistan women cricketer Urooj Mumtaz recently made a shocking statement. She said that female cricketer Bismah Maroof is at times a better player than current No.1 ranked ODI batter Babar Azam.

Urooj Mumtaz, during a TV show, was shown a picture of Bismah Maroof on the big screen and she said that Maroof is the Babar Azam of the women’s cricket. She added that at times Maroof is a better player than the former Pakistan skipper. The video of her statement has gone viral on the internet and surprised many.

Here’s the video:

Bismah Maroof has been an incredible servant of Pakistan in women’s cricket. She has contributed equally well to the team with both bat and ball and has played a huge role in making the team a great force in the world of cricket.

In the 133 WODIs, she has scored 3278 runs and has 2893 runs in the 140 WT20s. Overall she has smashed 32 fifties in the two formats. She has been staggering with the ball as in 50-over format she has picked 44 wickets and has bagged 36 scalps in the 140 games in the shortest format of the game.

On the other hand, Babar Azam is currently one of the leading batters in world cricket. The right-hander has made himself a great name in a short span of time and is arguably one of the best batters Pakistan has ever produced.

Babar Azam’s consistency has been one of the highlights of his career so far. Not only in one format, he has been brilliant for the team in all three formats of the game. He also captained Pakistan and had great success before stepping down after the ICC World Cup 2023.

Babar Azam is currently the No.1 ranked ODI batter and with the way he’s going, it’s fair to say that some of the massive records are in danger. The batter is also among the top-ranked batters in the Tests and T20Is as well, which speaks volumes about his caliber as a batter.

Babar Azam has been even compared to Virat Kohli and there often have been debates related to who is best among the duo. Since Babar made his debut for Pakistan, the team has looked threatening in the World Cup. It was under him when Men in Green defeated India for the first time in World Cups. They achieved the feat in the 2021 T20 World Cup when they won the game by 10 wickets.

PAK vs AUS: Babar Azam to be next seen in action in the second Test against Australia

Babar Azam is currently part of the Pakistan squad for the ongoing Test series against Australia. The batter played the first match in Perth and didn’t have a great outing. He bagged low scores in both innings and it was expected that he would play a great role but it wasn’t meant to be.

Babar Azam’s failure was one of the main reasons behind Pakistan’s thrashing 360-run loss in the first game. The Shan Masood-led side looked clueless against the hosts and wasn’t up to the mark with bat and ball in Perth. Pakistan haven’t won a single Test in Australia for a long and would be hoping to end that jinx.

The second Test between Australia and Pakistan will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on 26th December.  If Pakistan have to fancy their chances of winning, Babar Azam needs to fire and help his team home. He’s arguably the best batter in the lineup and if he fires, he can take the team to win as well.
