Pakistan, on Tuesday (October 31), made a solid start with the ball in their ongoing must-win clash against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The good start, however, turned a bit sour due to an unfortunate injury sustained by their leg-spinner Usama Mir.
The incident took place in the seventh over of the match when Usama Mir was fielding at short mid-wicket. After Litton Das pulled a delivery from Shaheen Afridi, the spinner made a good effort to catch the ball. With the ball landing just in front of him, Usama Mir tried to catch the ball by making a dive but failed to do.
He, however, managed to stop the ball. But in doing so, he ended up suffering a nasty injury in his bowling arm. His fingers were bleeding and he had to walk off the field immediately. Pakistan would be hoping that their spinner manages to bowl in the game.

Talking about the game, Pakistan captain Babar Azam opted to bowl first after winning the toss. And his bowlers did not take long to justify the decision. Shaheen Afridi struck in the very first over to dismiss Tanzid Hasan for a duck to give his team a perfect start.
In the third over, he dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto before Haris Rauf joined the party and dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim to leave Bangladesh reeling at 23 for 3. At the time of writing this report, Bangladesh were on 36 for 3 in the 10th over.
Pakistan need to win the ongoing game at all cost to keep alive their slim hopes of progressing to the semifinal. They are currently languishing in the seventh spot with 2 wins and 4 losses. Bangladesh, on the other hand, are in the ninth spot with 1 win and 5 defeats.
