Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim expressed his disappointment over the national team's recent defeats to the United States of America (USA) and Bangladesh. Imad Wasim said that losing to the United States of America and Bangladesh were the lowest points in Pakistan's cricket history.

Pakistan scored 159/7 in 20 overs against the USA during the T20 World Cup 2024. Shadab Khan top-scored with 40 off 25 balls, while Babar Azam added 44 from 43. Haris Rauf couldn't defend 15 runs in the final over, resulting in a Super Over. Mohammad Amir conceded 18 runs in the Super Over.

Pakistan managed only 13/1 in response and lost the match by five runs. This loss proved costly for them as it impacted their chances to reach the Super 8s in the tournament. The Men in Green ended their campaign with two wins and two losses and failed to advance to the next stage of the event.

To make matters worse, the Pakistan team suffered a humiliating Test series loss to Bangladesh at home. The Shan Masood-led team lost the series opener by 10 wickets. They went on to lose the second match by six wickets. Notably, Pakistan had not lost to Bangladesh in Tests before this series.

Is A Tough Pill To Swallow - Imad Wasim

Reflecting on Pakistan cricket's recent setbacks, Imad Wasim said he was disappointed with losses to the USA and Bangladesh. Wasim added that losing to Bangladesh in a Test series at home was a tough pill to swallow.

"Yeah, it was actually. And when we lost against the USA as well, I was very disappointed. Although I didn't play, I wanted to, but I was injured. But yeah, I was disappointed when we lost to the US. We've been playing T20 cricket for 15 years, and that was the lowest point in T20s," Imad said.

"But yes, in Test cricket, losing against Bangladesh in your home conditions is a tough pill to swallow. I watched the highlights of the game," he added.

It's An Alarming Sign - Imad Wasim

Imad Wasim criticized the management and captain for citing pitch misreading as an excuse. He emphasized that teams must be prepared for all conditions in international cricket. Wasim admitted that Pakistan’s performance in both Test matches was poor.

"I heard that the management and the captain mentioned they misread the pitch and things like that. But in international cricket, you need to be prepared for any situation - whether it might spin or get flat," Wasim said.

"Weather is beyond your control. I don't like to beat around the bush; we didn't play well. To be honest, we didn’t perform in either Test match. It’s an alarming sign."

Pakistan hasn't won a home Test match since their series against South Africa in January 2021. The team will face England in a three-match home Test series, starting on October 7 in Multan. Notably, the Pakistan team was whitewashed by the England cricket team in their last home Test series.
