Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi heaped praise on the Pakistan national cricket team for their exceptional performance after they won the three-match T20I series against Ireland.
Celebrating their victory, Naqvi expressed his admiration for the Men in Green’s outstanding display of skill and determination during the T20I series in Ireland.
Pakistan had suffered an embarrassing defeat in the first T20I against Ireland, but they made a stunning comeback and went on to win the remaining two games to clinch the series with a margin of 2-1 against the Irish side.
This win would have certainly boosted their confidence in the lead-up to the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean. Before the T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan team will play four T20I matches in England.
Mohsin Naqvi ranks Pakistan as the best team in the world
Well, after Pakistan’s T20I series win over Ireland, PCB chief Naqvi ranked the Men in Green as the best team in the world. While congratulating Pakistan on the social media platform 'X', Naqvi hailed the Men in Green for their collective effort and dedication throughout the Ireland tour.
Furthermore, the PCB chief also highlighted Babar Azam and his team’s impressive teamwork and wished the team continued success in their upcoming assignments against England and the T20 World Cup 2024. He expressed his confidence in their abilities and potential to turn the tables.
Mohsin Naqvi wrote on X: “Congratulations to the Pakistan Cricket team for winning the series against Ireland! With teamwork and dedication, you have proven to be the best team in the world. Best of luck, boys, for the England series and the World Cup.”
Notably, the PCB chairman returned to Pakistan on Wednesday, May 15, from Ireland. During his visit to Ireland, Naqvi held discussions with the head of Ireland Cricket about the upcoming ties. As per the Future Tours Programme 2023–27, Ireland is scheduled to tour Pakistan in August next year for the three-match ODI and T20I series.
England-Pakistan unlikely to play warm-up games ahead of T20 World Cup 2024
The Ireland women’s cricket team can also visit Pakistan for a series. Earlier, a Cricbuzz report claimed that Pakistan and England could miss their warm-up matches for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 next month, as they will already face each other in the T20I series later this month as part of their preparations for the upcoming mega event.
While Pakistan will be in the USA for their initial games in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, England will travel to the Caribbean, so traveling can be another reason behind their reluctance for the warm-up matches.
On the other hand, the Indian team was originally scheduled to depart for New York on May 21, but now the players will travel in two batches on May 25 and 26. The ICC will soon announce the schedule for the warm-up matches for India.
But India's warm-up games are likely to take place around May 25th and 26th, with the Men in Blue kick-off their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on June 5 in New York, where they want to play warm-ups.
