Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Moshin Naqvi continues to strengthen cricketing ties, as Cricket Ireland Chairman Brian McNeice announced that the Irish team will visit the Asian country for a limited-overs series in August and September next year.

According to Cricket Pakistan, Ireland’s next year’s tour of Pakistan is scheduled as part of the Future Tours Programme 2023–27. On this tour, the Ireland National Cricket Team will play a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series against the Pakistan team in August and September 2025.

Ireland to play limited-overs series in Pakistan next year

The announcement regarding Ireland’s tour to Pakistan came after a meeting held in Dublin between Mohsin Naqvi and Brian MacNeice in Dunlin on Sunday, May 12. During the meeting, McNeice warmly welcomed Naqvi and presented him with a souvenir of the Ireland team shirt and cap, as per Cricket Pakistan.

McNeice and Naqvi have also decided to organize a series of women's cricket teams from Pakistan and Ireland during the meeting. It will be a big step forward in promoting women's cricket in Ireland and strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

Meanwhile, the Cricket Ireland chairman also confirmed that they are also mulling over sending the Irish women's cricket team to Pakistan, and they will take the final call shortly. Notably, Warren Deutrom, the Chief Executive Officer of Cricket Ireland, was also present at the meeting in Dublin, alongside other key officials from the host cricket board.

On the other hand, McNiece expressed his support to the PCB for hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. The Cricket Ireland chairman also praised Pakistan for providing excellent security for international tournaments over the years.

Overwhelmed by McNiece’s words, PCB chairman Naqvi expressed his gratitude to the Cricket Ireland chairman for the warm welcome and excellent arrangements made for the Pakistan cricket team for their ongoing three-match T20I series in Ireland.

Naqvi also assured them that the security arrangements would be top-notch for all teams participating in the Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, the Ireland team had defeated the Men in Green by five wickets in the opening game of the ongoing three-match T20I series in Dublin.

However, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan team also made a stunning comeback in the second T20I by winning the game by seven wickets on May 12 in Dublin. Now, Ireland and Pakistan will square off in the T20I series-deciding game on May 14 at the Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin.

Ireland and Pakistan will both take part in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean. While Ireland will open its T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against India on June 5 in New York, Pakistan will face the hosts United States on June 6 in Texas. However, before the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024, Pakistan will play four T20Is in England in the lead-up to the 20-team global event.
