Pakistan’s batting coach Adam Hollioake said that he was having an identity crisis while he was put on the mic during the second T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan. He was an Australian-born who played cricket for England representing them in four Tests and 35 ODIs. Adam Hollioake has been appointed as the batting coach after Andrew Puttick was removed from his post. The PCB made a lot of changes in the coaching staff after the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Pakistan and New Zealand played the second T20I of the series at Seddon Park in Hamilton and New Zealand posted 194/8 while batting first with Finn Allen scoring 74 off 41 balls. During the New Zealand innings, Adam Hollioake was put on the mic to have a chat with the commentators and he made a funny comment regarding his identity saying that he had an identity crisis after coaching them and added that he might need a Pakistani passport.

“I was born in Australia, I played for England and I now coach Pakistan. I am confused and having an identity crisis, I may need a Pakistani passport now,” says Adam Hollioake who is currently the batting coach of Pakistan. Pakistan are yet to win a game since their last victory against New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

The wait for Pakistan’s win has been extended as they lost the second T20I against New Zealand. The BlackCaps defeated the Men In Green by 21 runs and took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. From hereon, every game is a decider for Pakistan and they would have to win every game from here in this series to win the series against New Zealand.

Pakistan Having A Terrible Time In International Cricket

The Men in Green have not won a single game since the ICC Cricket World Cup clash against New Zealand and after that, they have played an ODI, three Tests, and two T20Is, failing to win any of the matches. They even drew the practice match which was against the Prime Minister’s XI ahead of the Test series against Australia. The team under the leadership of Shan Masood was whitewashed by Australia in the three-match Test series.

The Men in Green still have three T20Is against New Zealand to play in the series and with the kind of form they are displaying, they are expected to lose the series. They are already down by 2-0 and will have to win the rest of the three games to win the series. The one positive aspect for them is the return of Babar Azam in form. Babar Azam has been struggling with the bat since the start of the Super 4s of the Asia Cup 2023 but now he has smashed consecutive half-centuries in this series to regain his form back.

The third T20I will be played at the University Oval in Dunedin and the Men in Green are in a do-or-die situation. It will be interesting to see how many matches they will win out of the remaining three in this series.
